Joel Gray - The Harvest Dinner Series

I wish I could grant you the opportunity to taste what you're about to view in these photos, but that isn't possible (yet).  Here in words, I've captured my experience in hopes that by the end of this post, you'll be inspired to get out there and witness the magic, flavour, and heart that goes into home grown goodness and a thoughtfully curated harvest dinner. The combination of Joel's passion-forward cooking mixed with the interior thoughtfulness in the home has created an intimate space to enjoy a farm to table meal.

I don't want to give away too much of the magic as it's truly something you need to be there for. I tell ya though, Joel is a genius in the kitchen. I've been reminiscing and raving to friends and family about this meal for days and that right there means a whole heck of a lot. From the stunning plate presentation, to the medley of local flavours - each dish sparkled with character and tasted so incredibly fresh. It's true when they say local tastes better and Joel's dinners are certified under the Feast On® program which requires commitment to sourcing Ontario grown + made ingredients. It makes it pretty special knowing that what sits on your plate has been grown, harvested and sent from the Grey/Bruce area.

The final touches to my favourite dish of the night. It was everything I loved done so perfectly in a bowl. I'm determined to find a way to eat this exact dish sometime soon in my future (hint hint.) SO. DANG. GOOD. __ K2 milled red spring wheat pasta / charred Burdock Grove's tomatoes / foraged lobster mushrooms / mushrooms from Northern woods / savoury cream / Lindsay clothbound goat cheddar / garden basil / Sideroad Farm's peashoots

Another helluva good dish that hit all the flavour stops. Every ingredient had its place on the plate and complimented each other so beautifully. The key was to get a little bit of everything on your fork - that was when the magic happened. __ Good Family Farms crispy pork belly / roasted turnips, cider braised cabbage and kale from Sideroad Farms / Burdock Groves golden beets / Roy'l Acre Farms mini potatoes + horseradish / Sideroad Farms carrot and wild ginger puree / red wine jus

I'm sitting here thinking how thankful I am to know such a great community of humans doing amazing things. This was the first time meeting Joel and it was nothing short of spectacular. Man, such a cool human willing to  share his home and love of food with people from all over. Food connects us and inspires conversation and curiosity. It brings a whole new level of appreciation when you know who had a hand in growing the ingredients beyond the plate and are able to shake the hand of the chef who prepared (legit footsteps away from you).

Thank you Joel for this truly memorable meal.
