Pastel pink and purple, ceramic table lamps, and wicker everything ~ Miller Island babes! Miller Island is hands down one of the best little shops in Creemore, On. Travis (owner) curates an ongoing collection of amazing vintage + thrifted finds. One step into his shop and you’ll immediately start seeing floating hearts.

Miller Island began as primarily an online shop, offering delivery/shipping through Instagram dibs. You loved an item? Call it and it’s yours. The daily anticipation was REAL - always wondering what new items would drop on the Instagram feed. Now you can shop IN-STORE at his beautiful warehouse-like location just off of the main street in Creemore.

Check out Miller Island on Instagram @miller_island and read on for a Q+A with Travis.

Q+A

How did Miller Island end up in Creemore? What do you love most about this location?

It was totally by accident. I ended up moving home with my parents after quitting my job in the city. I was unable to keep up there and looking back, I had a lot of unresolved things going on in my mind. I was in self destruction mode and needed to crash somewhere. Creemore became the haven that I needed to recover and find myself again. With the skies clearing in my mind I was able to slow down and explore my love of design and grow a business. I feel lucky every day to have found Creemore; it's beautiful inside and out. The people are beautiful, the town is beautiful and the pace is beautiful.

Top 3 songs of all time (or right now)?

Hmm. That's a tough one. I have so many favourites. I'd say anything by Vanilla, Jinsang or Tycho.

What's your go-to summer meal?

Is beer a meal?

Summer 2020 Miller Island trends? What are we going to see a lot of in your shop? What items are you loving?

My favourite trends that I see coming up for vintage are materials like marble, stone and glass and influences by ancient Greek architecture like columns, ceramics and faded Mediterranean colours. I'm also in love with the 80's deco trend going on right now; arches, brass and terrazzo are stand outs for me.

How can people shop over the summer? (in-store/online - maybe just give some details)

Because of the uncertain times, I would check my updates on the Miller Island Instagram page. Things could change on a dime so that's all I can promise right now unfortunately. I do know that I will continue to post items on my Instagram and you can message me if you’d like to make a purchase or have questions.

If you could give any piece of advice to your high school self, what would it be?

Be kind to yourself.

Favourite show as a kid?

That would have to be Hey Arnold! It always had some good real-talk, the animation was a total aesthetic and the music is all jazz-hop and lofi which I love. I still watch it on YouTube from time to time.
