Taking Unboxing to a Local Level - Acre75 Gathered

WORDS + PHOTOS | Stef Richardson

Hey friends! Remember when I told you about Acre 75 - that cool online shop that sells gifts that are locally made in small towns of 30,000 people or less? If not, read on here so you’re up to date.

Welllllll, I’m super pumped for Virginia (Owner of Acre 75) and her recent launch of Acres 75 Gathered - a seasonal subscription box of thoughtfully curated items from her online store. Each box will contain a selection of products, made and cared for by a small business located somewhere rural in Canada. Boxes will ship every June, September, December + March and you know what, it’ll come right to your door step. It’s like Christmas 4x a year!

The June delivery couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been non-stop on the go all month and this was a surprise and delight kind-of-package. Arrived in the cutest fashion too - perfect sized box, simple logo and custom-made packing tape covered with a map of Mildmay (Virginia’s hometown). Inside there were 5 amazing products from 5 different small towns (you nailed it, V!) all carefully wrapped in tissue paper covered in a photocopy of the Mildmay Town Crier from June 1984. SO MANY LOCAL FEELS and I love it.

Acre75 Gathered combines the benefits of shopping locally and buying Canadian made, together with the simplicity of a subscription box service - it’s never been easier to #supportlocal!

Definitely was diggin’ all of the goodies I received but was real excited to try the ‘After Sun Hydrating Mist’ by Sisi Georgian Bay in Parry Sound (because, summer) and the Raspberry Lemon Verbena no sugar added jam by County Fare in Prince Edward County (because, yum). I’ve already loaded up a PB toast with the jam and it’s absolutely delicious. Imagine you hit up the raspberry field, load up a basket, come home and mash them up. It’s basically summer in a jar.

Honestly, with all of the markets happening in the area…it’s hard for me to attend every single one. This allows me to discover new products outside of my South Georgian Bay hub and still support ‘local’ - because all Canadian’s count!
