WHIP UP: Creamy Cashew Coffee Fraps

Currently writing this blog post in my pyjamas. To be honest, it seems like most of my days have been spent in loungewear because at this point the thought of jeans seems out of the question. Social distancing, quarantining, isolation - whatever that looks like for you, you got this! It’s really hard to completely understand what each and every one of you is going through, it just is! But if we can continue being kind humans and lend an ear to a friend, neighbour or co-worker (if they just need to chat it out) that’s the craft glue baby. Compassion, love and understanding is all you need sometimes.

At the heart of any day comes desire for a cuppa tea or a cuppa coffee. I’ve got a creamy cashew coffee frap recipe that is super simple to make with ingredients you probably already have at home! I don’t even drink coffee but I have a thing for coffee flavoured bevs + treats and this one is BOMB. It’s been my go-to for the last few weeks so I thought i’d share it with you. For this recipe I used all local favourites (duh!) listed below but you can absolutely sub for what you’ve got.

2/3 cups black coffee –‘heritage espresso blend’ from Gibson and Co. TIP: room temperature is best.

2/3 cups unsweetened cashew milk – housemade cashew milk from Gather Grocery in Thornbury

1 ½ tbsp pure maple syrup – organic maple syrup made by Beaver Valley Maple - adjust to your sweet liking

1 cup of ice - heaping cup of ice - think overflowing cup

 DEETS:

Combine all the ingredients into a blender. Blend and serve!

  • Feel free to customize the amount of maple syrup serving based on your sweet preference.

  • You may require a few extra ice cubes if your coffee isn’t fully at room temperature

  • This serving fills a 16oz. mason jar (our vessel of choice)

  • The housemade cashew milk is VERY creamy which definitely adds to the richness of this drink.

Slurp up! Hope you enjoy this creamy coffee frap. It’s brought me a little bit of daily joy.
